I think it is a mistake to compare this format with a state of the union. And it has never been a good format for Biden with his long standing language issues. His age is certainly a factor but I feel he was over coached and also that answering loaded questions in a minute is unreasonable and a mistake to have agreed to. Maybe foolhardy. As a professional vocalist, I got this advice from a Voice Clinic doctor: your vocal cords are the last part of your body to get hydrated; therefore, you must be fully hydrated in order for your voice to be fully functioning. Travel dehydrates the body and impacts the voice so avoiding flights, in particular, is advisable. If that is not possible, drinking 2 litres of spring water each day, gargling with warm salt water, taking honey & apple cider vinegar in boiling water, avoiding coffee & sugary fizzy drinks can all help mitigate the damage. I think the debate was over-rated as “bad”. People are too quick to panic! For god-sake, Biden had a cold. I disagree with those who are exaggerating Biden’s “cognitive decline”. Al, I am still furious that you were pressured to resign and am feeling that same fury over the pressure for Biden to resign. Yes the debate was horrific for Biden. But he had put in a whole day of work and was sick and perhaps on medication. I blame his advisors. He had recently been criss crossing the world and country, he needed resting before the debate.
